Fishing at Clacton Pier
Clacton Pier has long been regarded as one of the prime sea fishing spots along the Tendring coastline.
Summer or Winter, there is always plenty of action to be had on this six acre pleasure pier.
Although, like Walton pier, this pier is hugely popular with day trippers during the summer season, its berthing arm ensures a more private fishing session than the pier in Walton.
Day Tickets currently cost £6.00 and are available from the machine in the car park at the front of the Pier. Season permits are £75, which are valid for a year from the day you buy them. With a 24/7 members permit you are entitled to 24/7 fishing. (It is worth noting that pier staff carry out regular fishing permit inspections and that the pier company charges a £8 penalty fare for anglers without a valid 24/7 or day permit).
This winter season has been the best we've seen for the last 10/15 years, with large numbers of Codling being caught, some anglers have reported catching up to 40 of these in a single session. Fish of up to 4/5lb have already been caught recently.
Some of the types of fish that can be caught are; Whiting, Pouting, Codling, Rockling & Bass.
