Plans are being drawn up for a winter of bumper family fun at Clacton Pier.

A fang-tastic Halloween Festival is being staged over the October half term and that will be followed by a cracking Christmas event.

Bosses at the landmark attraction are lining up a host of exciting activities for all ages to enjoy with special offers up for grabs.

Director Billy Ball said that both programmes are coming together, and full details will be released in the coming months.

“It may still be the middle of summer, but we are making sure that we have our plans in place for two very special events later in the year,” he said.

“They will both include plenty of fun, entertainment, and decorations aimed at providing magical memories for all the family.”

The Halloween Festival will run during half term from October 23 to October 31 with a free fireworks extravaganza on November 6.

The Styles family will be on board again this year with their freaky sideshow after they have been self-isolating for more than five decades in the Jolly Roger at the end of the Pier.

There will also be a children’s fancy dress competition and the ever-popular pumpkin patch.

The indoor area will be fully decorated, and other features will include a monstrous model display, a free ghost hunt pack and creepy colouring competition along with ghoulishly good food with a Halloween theme.

The Christmas event is set to follow on from last year’s success with the purpose-built Santa’s Grotto and the North Pole Experience at the centre of the attractions.

It will include the reindeer stables, Frosty the Snowman, and other animatronic characters along with a host of festive decorations throughout the Pier.

A special offer price will be available, and the grotto will be up and running from late November.

“We put a number of new features in place last Christmas, and we will be building on that this year,” added Mr Ball.

“It promises to be a fantastic event - as will the Halloween Festival - and we are looking forward to providing fun for all those local families who have supported us once again this summer.”

On Friday (August 20) the Carnival Pier night is being held with special £10 wristbands for unlimited rides between 6pm and 9pm.
