Clacton Pier has been named one of the best amusement parks in Europe for the second year in succession.
The attraction has been recognised by Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best for 2026.
The pier was placed 17th out of more than 1,000 amusement and water parks on the continent.
Best of the Best winners are among the top one per cent of listings around the world on Tripadvisor and it is the highest level of award it hands out.
General Manager Harry Peek said every one of the pier team is incredibly proud of the achievement.
“To officially be named one of the best in Europe for the second year running is very special and a real testament to all who have helped us win this prestigious accolade,” he said.
“It is based on genuine guest reviews from the past 12 months – no judging panels, nominations or applications.
“Those responsible for us getting this award are firstly our guests, and we have around one million a year, who have enjoyed their visit and have taken the time to post a review.”
Mr Peek thanked all those who had posted but was also quick to praise the staff who work on the pier and have made this honour possible.
“We believe we have taken customer service to a new level over recent years and along with that we provide the attractions that enable families to make very happy memories that last a lifetime,” he added.
“Obviously a lot of those who came down to the pier during the past year agree and were prepared to take the time to share their experiences on Tripadvisor.
“Our excellent team really do deserve a lot of the credit and I would like to take the opportunity to publicly thank them very much for all their efforts.”
Mr Peek added that the accolade puts Clacton in the spotlight once again and can only help to drive visitor numbers to the town and district.
“It has come at a perfect time at the start of a new season and let’s hope it’s just the start of a bumper year for all of us in the tourism and hospitality sector.”
