About the Role
Clacton Pier is launching Clacton FEAR, a brand-new Halloween experience bringing live-action scares, immersive environments and terrifying entertainment to the Pier this October.
We are looking for enthusiastic, confident and committed Scare Actors to join our cast and help bring the event to life.
As a Scare Actor, you will become one of the characters within our immersive scare zones and attractions, interacting with guests and creating memorable – and terrifying – experiences. You’ll need to be comfortable performing in front of the public, staying in character and working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the inaugural Clacton FEAR event and help establish a brand-new Halloween attraction at Clacton Pier.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform as an assigned character within Clacton FEAR’s scare zones and attractions.
- Stay in character and deliver engaging, unpredictable and entertaining scares.
- Interact with guests in a professional, appropriate and safe manner.
- Follow direction from Show Captains and the Clacton FEAR management team.
- Attend rehearsals, briefings and training sessions as required.
- Follow all health, safety and operational procedures at all times.
- Work effectively as part of a large cast and wider event team.
- Maintain high energy and enthusiasm throughout each performance.
- Help create an immersive atmosphere for guests from the moment they enter the event.
- Report any safety, operational or guest concerns to the appropriate member of the team.
About You
- Aged 18 or over.
- Confident, outgoing and comfortable performing in front of large groups of people.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to the full event schedule.
- Able to remain in character for extended periods.
- Physically able to perform the requirements of the role.
- Comfortable working in dark, loud and atmospheric environments.
- Able to take direction and work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous acting, performance, entertainment or scare experience is desirable but not essential.
- A passion for Halloween, horror and immersive entertainment.
- Flexible and available to work evenings and weekends throughout the Clacton FEAR event period.
Event Dates & Availability
Clacton FEAR will operate on selected evenings throughout October 2026, with performances running from approximately 6pm until 11pm.
Successful applicants will be required to attend rehearsals and training ahead of the event and must be able to commit to the dates agreed during the casting process.
