Clacton Pier’s Halloween celebrations are back on track after a stormy weekend disrupted events.

Scare fans are looking forward to Clacton FEAR reopening on Thursday night and continuing on Friday and Saturday after it was forced to close due to strong winds and driving rain.

Bosses made the tough decision to cancel last Friday and Saturday on safety grounds but they are expecting a busy last three evenings this week.

The pier’s Halloween Festival was also affected on Sunday when the rides and outdoor activities were not in operation due to exceptionally high winds.

General manager Harry Peek said it is now full steam ahead for the rest of half term with better conditions forecast.

“We don’t let the weather beat us unless the safety of guests and staff are compromised as was the case over the weekend,” he added.

“But we will bounce back from the disappointment and crack on with packed houses for the last three evenings of Clacton Fear and our Halloween Festival fun continues right through until end of play on Sunday.”

Mr Peek said that safety is always the top priority and he thanked everyone who had booked and couldn’t attend due to the closures, for their understanding and support.

“Sometimes there are factors totally out of anyone’s control and you just have to accept it and move on. We are hopeful that the rest of half term will be a different story and the winds will die down,” he added.

“Clacton FEAR got off to a great start and we will pick things up from there.”

It will be back in operation on October 29, 30 and 31 from 6pm until late with tickets available online for £25 at https://www.clactonfear.co.uk/tickets/ rather than £30 on site.

The popular Halloween Festival runs through until November 1.

The pier is decorated throughout, with a host of spooktacular fun including Creepy-Crawly Cabin, Pumpkin Patch, a revamped live show featuring pier mascot Sidney the Seagull, Ghost Train 4D and a new live action walk through experience, The Ghosts of Midnight Mansion.

Venture into a haunted hotel where restless spirits linger, uncover the secrets of the past and discover what lies behind its mysterious doors. But be warned… you never know who, or what, might be waiting around the next corner! Are you brave enough to enter?

Mr Peek added: “Our team love Halloween as much as our guests do, and we are looking forward to many youngsters dressing up and having lots of fun with us.

“The Ghosts of Midnight Mansion is already proving an added attraction along with all the other normal festival fun and activities.”

A Frightfully Fun Band costs £25 and 10 per cent can be saved by booking online. Full details of what this includes can be found at www.clactonpier.co.uk
