Clacton Majorettes Royalette Twirling Team have signed up for a free
weekend of family fun for the Armed Forces at Clacton Pier.

The team – currently made up of girls aged from three up to 25 – will be
performing on both days of the event on September 22 and 23.

They are based at Jaywick Scout Hut and teach the art of baton twirling,
pompoms, marching and flags and take part in carnivals, fetes and displays
across the District.

Ewelina Majewska, the Pier’s Operations Manager, said that the team
contacted the Pier offering their services.

“We were delighted to incorporate them into the programme and add to
spectacle of the weekend,” she said.

“We will also have military vehicles on display, free live music and
children’s entertainment on both days.

“The event is our thank you to the forces for all that they do for us
throughout the year and we staged one for the Emergency Services in the
summer.”

Ewelina added that it will give the majorettes the chance to showcase
their skills – and also attract new recruits.

The Pier will provide each forces family with four free wristbands worth
up to £60 on production of a valid ID card at the ticket office. The offer also
applies to veterans and their families.

Free music will be provided by Steve Richie on Saturday and Sammy B on
Sunday, while James Magic will be performing on the first day with Trevor Cline
booked for the Sunday.
