Clacton Pier is looking to celebrate Mother’s Day with a special offer to help get the family having fun together this weekend.
For the third year running mums will be entitled to free rides at the attraction so they can accompany their children at no extra cost.
The initiative was trialled in 2024 for the first time and proved so popular that it is being continued.
Nigel Brown, the pier’s communications manager, said it is all about the family making great memories together.
“The kids come down and love going on the rides but the fun isn’t just for the youngsters,” he added.
“Adults can join it too, and on Mother’s Day we will not charge the mums for rides so that cost is no barrier to them taking part.
“Because we know that family situations can differ, the offer is also extended to all those who are identify as ‘mum’ – whether that be a grandma, auntie or a guardian over 18.
“We will be doing the same for dads on June 21 when it will include, grandads, uncles and guardians.”
On Sunday one adult will be given a complimentary wristband with every Big Day Out Band bought for a child. And children with annual passes will not miss out as an unlimited rides band will be issued to one adult per passholder.
“We hope that lots of families will take advantage of the offer and it will be a chance for them to go on the newly-refurbished Helter Skelter which reopened at the weekend,” said Mr Brown.
“Lots of people turned up to have a go – or just admire the work that has been carried out – and the feedback we received was extremely positive. It made all the many months of hard work worthwhile.”
