One of Clacton Pier’s most popular attractions is now available for private hire for the first time.
Discovery Bay soft play was built as part of a multi-million pound investment in the site in 2018 and given a significant facelift last year.
Although families have been able to book parties at the venue, they have not been able to secure exclusive use.
Now that is possible with a capacity of up to 60 children on selected dates throughout the year.
Pier general manager Harry Peek said that a scheme is being set up which will provide two hours private use of the soft play area.
“We have listened to our customers who have asked for the chance to have exclusive use virtually since Discovery Bay first opened,” he said.
“This now comes with our cheapest ever package starting at less than £4.50 per child if the maximum capacity is taken up.
“We are confident this will be of interest not only to families but clubs, groups, organisations and schools.”
Exclusive use is available from 6.30pm to 8.30pm any day that the attraction is open until 9pm. It is only on Fridays and Saturdays in the winter.
Mr Peek added that new party packages, outside of exclusive use, have also been drawn up.
These start from £11 per child and rise up to £16 per child which includes a full hot buffet meal.
It is also possible to add on other activities such as adventure golf, rides, video games and an appearance from Sidney the seagull, the pier mascot.
Two new Christmas party packages have also been introduced for the over 18s.
The classic package includes one hour of bowling, 18-holes of adventure golf, dodgems, one standard drink and a pizza sharing platter at £29.99 per person.
For an extra £10 the bottomless package involves two hours of bowling; 18-holes of adventure golf, 20 minutes of AR darts or Shufl, dodgems, one bottle of prosecco or a bucket of beer and unlimited pizza sharing platters.
These are available on November 29/30, December 5/6, 12/13 and 19/20 from 6pm to 9pm.
Mr Peek said these are ideal for a works do or a night out with friends. Spaces are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.
