A major new event is being unveiled at Clacton Pier with the promise of a host of thrills and scares.

Tickets for the seven night chiller in the Autumn go on sale from this week with a special early discount.

The event in October, which has been three years in the making, follows on from the success of the one-off Evil on Sea which was staged in the Jolly Roger theatre in 2019.

Now seven years on Clacton FEAR, the only event of its type in the Tendring district, is set to haunt the decks of the pier.

It will run alongside the pier’s existing daytime event – the Halloween Festival – and provide some Halloween fun for a whole new audience.

Tickets will include access to two terrifying live action scare mazes, a scare zone, and unlimited rides in the dark on selected thrill rides.

It will see guests taken up to the second floor of the Jolly Roger for the first time in decades where they will venture through heavily themed walkthrough attractions packed full of live actors and special effects.

Pier General Manager Harry Peek said that a great deal of time and effort has been put into the planning of Clacton FEAR.

“We have wanted to add this to our programme for several years now but it had to be just right and we did not want to rush it,” he said.

“Work is taking place throughout the summer to prepare the Jolly Roger for this major event which I promise, will not disappoint.

“Whilst the precise themes in the theatre are a closely guarded secret, the team behind the scenes are working on cooking up something truly terrifying! It will soon be time to face your FEAR.”

Clacton FEAR will take place on October 16, 17, 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31. It will run from 6pm ‘til late with a bar, food and drink for guests to enjoy.

Tickets are £30 but can be bought for £25 during June only. They provides access to the two live action scare mazes, scare zone, and unlimited rides on selected thrill rides and can be booked now at: https://www.clactonfear.co.uk/tickets/

The event is strictly for over 12s and those aged from 12 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 and over) at all times.

Mr Peek added: “These out of summer season events are so important to us and hopefully will attract new visitors to the town. It is all part of being a viable, sustainable business all year round.”
