Final preparations are well underway for Clacton Pier’s first free fireworks display of the year.

Bosses at the seaside attraction are teaming up with Dynamic Fireworks of Colchester once again to provide a top programme for 2025.

The event on Easter Sunday (April 20) at around 9pm will be followed by ten others going right through until November.

Pier owners Billy and Elliot Ball stage the extravaganzas in appreciation of their loyal customers and for all their ongoing support.

Some will be set to music as was trialled in the past two years and there will also be a special lower noise level performance, as well as a main one, on November 8.

Pier communications manager Nigel Brown, said Sunday’s display should help the bank holiday weekend go off with a real bang.

“The pyrotechnics are a very popular part of the diary, about giving something back to the local community to enjoy and help keep visitors in the town for the evening,” he added.

“They are staged at a significant cost, but are well worth it to thank those residents and others from further away who come and spend their hard earned money with us.

“We have worked with Dynamic Fireworks for many years now and they are integral to the programme for both supplying and setting off the fireworks from the seaward end of the pier.”

Rides will remain open until 10pm on Easter Sunday, and 8pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. Wristbands can be bought online in advance for £22.50 (as opposed to £30 on the day).

Mr Brown said the school Easter holiday had brought a steady flow of people so far but everyone involved in the leisure and hospitality industry in Clacton will be hoping for a bumper bank holiday weekend.

“Traditionally, it is one of our busiest of the year and fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us,” he added.

“Our teams are ready to look after our visitors and help them create happy memories with plenty of family fun on offer for all.”

This includes a giant Easter Bunny making appearances in Discovery Bay soft play, an egg trail, free live music, and a free rides annual pass to be won each day by the finder of a golden egg.
