The
final event of Clacton Pier’s biggest ever free fireworks programme takes to
the skies next month.
A
bumper double display on Saturday November 4 will celebrate Guy Fawkes with one
extravaganza for younger children at 6pm and then the normal show at 9pm.
For
the first time the earlier display will be a lower noise level for those who do
not enjoy the louder fireworks.
All the action takes place at the seaward end of the pier with two large
areas set aside for spectators either side of the Jolly Roger Theatre.
Director Billy Ball said it has been a busy programme in 2023 with 13
dates which kicked off in March to mark the beginning of the Year of the Pier.
“We are always looking to try something new wherever we can and hope
that the quieter event at 6pm will go down well, especially with younger
children and those who do not like loud noise,” he added.
“Our free programme is a big thankyou to all our loyal customers and
visitors who support us all year round.”
In 2022 there were 11 fireworks displays and eight the previous year.
This weekend (Oct 21/22) sees the start of the pier’s popular nine-day Halloween
Festival which runs throughout half term until Sunday October 29.
It includes a new attraction, Gellyball Blast which is a cross between
laser tag and paintball, and will take place in an arena with special effects
lighting in the Jolly Roger Theatre.
There will also be a massive pumpkin patch, Misery Mansion haunted house
walk-through experience, entertainment from the Stiles family, children’s
entertainment and face-painting and much more.
There is a special fang-tastic all-in deal of £27.99 (£13.99 for annual
rides pass holders). To book go to clactonpier.co.uk/book-online
