Hopes are high for a buzzing bank holiday at Clacton Pier with a free fireworks extravaganza lined-up to make it go with a real bang.
The three day break follows on from a very solid Easter for the landmark attraction and the weather forecast looks set fair for May 2-4.
Pier general Manager Harry Peek said that all preparations are in place and he is looking forward to the bank holiday.
“We were pleased with the way Easter went and now we are anticipating a bumper weekend ahead,” he added.
“It looks like we will get temperatures in the mid to high teens and with no rain on the horizon it should help bring the visitors into the town looking for some family fun.
“We will have our various indoor and outdoor attractions operational and with the free fireworks on Sunday May 3, as well as free live music during the weekend, it’s fingers crossed for a really buzzing time.”
The display will take place around 9pm to 9.30pm, as soon as it is dark enough, from the berthing arm at the end of the pier.
There is a special spectator area marked out which will provide the closest and best experience for those watching.
It will be the second of nine fireworks extravaganzas in the 2026 programme which will culminate with two displays on Saturday November 7.
Dynamic Fireworks of Colchester will once again provide and set off the pyrotechnics.
Free live music is being staged outside the Boardwalk Bar and Grill on the Saturday and Sunday.
Words and Music will be performing from 1pm to 4pm on May 2 and then it will be the turn of Lee Kamara for the same period on May 3.
