A major £4 million investment in new indoor
attractions at Clacton Pier is already beginning to pay dividends.
Discovery Bay adventure soft play area was
only opened up on July 21 and over the last weekend it was full to capacity.
Bosses at the Pier are already looking to
bring in extra seating areas for parents to cope with the demand.
The facility has also been popular during the
week – as have the Skull Point all-weather adventure golf course and first
floor Dockside Dodgems.
Elliot Ball, a Managing Director at the Pier,
said that Discovery Bay had exceeded expectations at this stage.
“We certainly thought it would prove its worth
in the cooler and especially the colder months but we have been going through a
heatwave,” he added.
“To have it full to capacity at this time is a
real bonus and therefore we will need more seating in there as quickly as
possible.
“My advice to anyone who is looking to come
down and enjoy the attraction is turn up early to avoid any disappointment or
having to wait to get in.”
Discovery Bay adventure soft play area cost
£500,000 and includes a number of role play rooms.
It is staffed and there is the Galley
Restaurant which is set aside for those families who are using the facility
with free wifi and televisions.
It is enclosed with only one gated entrance to
provide safety for children playing there.
