On-going investment is being made at Clacton Pier in readiness for the main season.
The amusement arcade took delivery of four new exciting cutting-edge machines last week – with more than 25 others to be in place by Easter.
The arcade has almost 200 individual machines in operation and it represents a major part of the businesses income across the whole year.
The Boardwalk Bar and Grill is also getting a refresh after a busy winter.
It will be closed for three days from today (February 2) for the work to take place and will reopen to customers on Thursday.
The venue got a major six-figure facelift in 2023 which included new seating, lighting, revamp of the floor, complete redecoration and the addition of the latest in social entertainment technology.
And around 50 new staff have been taken on at the attraction following a successful recruitment day last month.
Harry Peek, the pier’s general manager, said that the team are looking forward to a busy year ahead.
“We are all going through tough financial times at the moment but we are striving to ensure that families get a better experience with cutting-edge machines which have just come to market and enjoy a great value day out with us with,” he added.
“Our recruitment day last month saw us take on around 50 extra staff for the season, that’s over and above the numbers we employ all year round, and they have been through their induction. This will help us take care of our customers and their needs.
“Significant money is being spent on the arcade and the Boardwalk as well as other areas across the site.”
The four new machines already in the arcade are Big Top Ticket, Colorama Plus, Spinning Cyclone and Pop Shooter.
Mr Peek said fans will also be pleased to learn that the iconic Helter Skelter will be going up after February half term.
He explained that the work to refurbish the ride had taken longer than expected but it has undergone a complete and thorough overhaul, including being repainted.
“Weather permitting it will be reassembled after February half term and will reopen as soon as possible,” he added.
February Frenzy takes places over nine days at half term from February 14 to 22 with a half price offer up for grabs.
