The race is on to get the first section of Clacton Pier’s revamped ride
deck area up and running ready for half term.
There are now less than two weeks until the holiday and staff are working
flat out to get rides rebuilt after being dismantled over the winter.
A number of attractions will be operating and a special price of £1 will
be in place for all but the Go-karts.
Director Billy Ball said that it has been another incredibly busy winter
on the Pier with another significant project having been undertaken.
“For the past three months we have been concentrating on the ride deck;
strengthening parts of the structure for two new rides which will be coming online
at Easter,” he said.
“We have also had to move certain attractions around to accommodate this.
For instance, the Go-karts have been moved into the centre of the pier to make
way for the log flume.
“The rides have all undergone their usual maintenance programme and some
have been repainted for the new season. The ticket office is also being moved
to a more central location.
“Having spent considerable time and money on our indoor offer, this
winter was all about the outdoor rides and customers will see a major
difference once it is all completed.”
Mr Ball added that last February was warmer than usual and it was a very
busy half term. He hopes that this year will also bring in the crowds.
“We are now in a position where we have so much to offer whatever the
weather and are looking forward to a good half term,” he said.
Operation Party will be providing free face painting and a glitter
station for all paid entries to Discovery Bay on the weekend of February 15 and
16 between 1pm and 4pm.
Chips will also be priced at £1 a portion as part of the cheap as chips
theme for the half term.
