Clacton Pier continues to provide a top quality visitor attraction for a
fun day out according to the leading experts in the field.

VisitEngland carried out a full day assessment of the landmark,
involving all areas, last month.

It’s finding was that the Pier meets the high standards required for
accreditation in the national scheme – coveted by attractions around the
country.

The Pier will now be able to display the award for at least a further
two years before another inspection will be carried out by an assessor.

The latest report following the visit on September 16 covered the seven
main sections of pre-arrival (online presence and promotional material);
arrival (entry management, information and signage); the attraction itself;
cleanliness; toilets; catering and staff.

The assessor said the highlights were that the Pier offers a wide
selection of rides and activities for all ages. She was also impressed by the
fun card system that operates and provides access to the facilities.

“Clacton Pier delivered an enjoyable visitor experience providing an
entertaining and fun day out,” said Ruth Bolton. “The good range of rides,
games, amusements and eateries appeal to the wide visitor profile.

“The Pier continues to meet the standards required for an accredited
Quality Visitor Attraction under the VisitEngland scheme.”

Suggestions were made for improving customer care and it was felt that
staff could play a greater role in adding to the fun factor of a visit.

Billy Ball, managing director at the Pier, said he was pleased with the
assessment which covered every aspect of the operation.

“We have had an extremely busy 12 months and are still bedding in the
new facilities as part of our new £4 million development which has seen a major
transformation of what we offer,” he said.

“We are delighted to receive this important accreditation that gives
both local residents and those from further afield the confidence to come and
see us and a good idea of the standards they can expect.

“There are areas to tighten up on and it is good to have these regular
inspections to keep us on our toes. You can always strive to improve, and we
will certainly be taking all the comments on board.”
