Clacton Pier has been nominated for its second top award of the summer – and needs your help to pick up the prestigious accolade.

The seaside attraction has been shortlisted in the UK Theme Park Awards 2024 and is up against 14 other venues around the country.

They include Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Southend’s Adventure Island, Codona’s in Aberdeen, Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, Barry Island Pleasure Park, and Pleasurewood Hills in Suffolk.

There are 22 categories in all and the pier is nominated in the Best Seaside Parks section.

Voting opened today and runs through to September 1 with results announced at a ceremony on September 19.

Pier communications manager Nigel Brown said it is an honour to be shortlisted along with other leading sites.

“It’s going to be a tough gig but we know we have tremendous support in our community and hopefully people will vote for us again,” he added.

“It was due to the public’s vote that we won the Muddy Stilettos Award 2024 for Best Family Attraction in Essex earlier this summer.

“Hopefully all those who got behind us then will do so again this time around. It’s not only good for the pier, but also the town and Tendring as a whole.”

It is the fifth year the awards have been organised by ThemeParks-UK.com, an industry consumer guide to UK theme parks in association with AttractionTickets.com.

Mr Brown said the pier and its staff appreciated everyone who takes the time to support the attraction in awards.

The public vote is open at ukthemeparkawards.com

On Saturday (July 27) Clacton Pier is staging its first free fireworks extravaganza of the summer holidays.

The action will take place at the end of the pier at about 9pm, or as soon as it is dark enough. Rides will remain open until 10pm.
