Oktoberfest 2026 got off to a wunderbar start at Clacton Pier at the weekend hitting all the right notes with crowds of fun seekers.
Revellers enjoyed live music, games, authentic German food and beer with family and friends in a large marquee at the front of the attraction.
They were fully entertained by Ein Kleine Oompah Band, the Fabulous Tailfeathers along with Three’s a Crowd on Sunday.
Comedy trio Heidi, Hans and Gunter were there to get everyone in the right mood – dancing and singing in the aisles in a true Hofbrauhaus atmosphere.
Pier general manager Harry Peek said it was the perfect start to its fourth Oktoberfest.
“We were delighted with the turnout and this is an event which goes from strength to strength each year,” he added.
“It was great to see so many returners as well as plenty of new faces enjoying themselves at what is a free to attend event. People just pay for what they eat and drink on the day.
“There is no booking or tickets so just turn up and have fun at a Bavarian festival which goes back more than 200 years but still pulls in the fans today. Many dressed up and there was a fantastic atmosphere in the marquee.”
The pier’s bigger and better swing grill bought especially for this year went down well offering savoury bratwurst and other delights while an extra outside bar helped keep the beer flowing.
It is an event for all ages and the eldest attendee was 102-year-old Irene Pamphilion who had a great time.
The fun continues this Saturday and Sunday (September 26 and 27) and ends on October 3 and 4. It gets underway each day at 12noon.
