Preparations are almost complete for the new
main season at Clacton Pier which gets underway at the weekend.
Rides reopen for the first time this year on
February 16 along with the Seaquarium and other attractions.
Winter maintenance and independent checks and
inspections have taken place and a special price of £1 for main rides will be
in operation.
It will be the first time that the Pier will also
have its new development, including Skull Point adventure golf and Discovery
Bay soft play, open for a February half term.
Operations Manager Ewelina Majewska said that
it promises to be a busy nine days to kick-off the new season.
“The new undercover development has proved
very popular throughout the winter – especially at weekends – and now we are
looking to have the rides back in operation along with the Seaquarium,” she said.
“Other work is on-going to continue our drive
towards a truly 52 week a year business and the project in the central
concourse should be complete around Easter.
“It is a really exciting time for us, and the
improvements we have undertaken are going down very well with our visitors.”
Around 30 new staff have been recruited and are
being put through their inductions and training this week.
Due to the scheme in the central concourse,
entry to the Seaquarium will be via Discovery Bay.
A new filtration system has recently been
fitted and further improvements to two tanks are currently underway.
“There are some significant changes coming in
the Seaquarium and some will be ready for Easter,” added Ewelina. “It is all
about continuing to improve our offer and provide great value for money.”
